In the spring of 1996, soon after Jill Hirshinger was named Head Coach of the UNH Women's Volleyball Team, a group of seacoast area parents approached her about starting their own Juniors Volleyball program, and asked for her support. After driving their daughters to other clubs in New Hampshire and Massachusetts for several years, the parents wanted the girls to play closer to home. Dave Garvey, Ed and Becky Jentes, Deb and Steve Johnson, Steve and Phyllis Malinsky, Diane and Steve Anthony, and Bill Shaheen met during the summer and fall of 1996 to make Seacoast Juniors Volleyball become a reality. Dave Garvey was named as the first Director and served two years with Deb Johnson serving as coordinator. Ed Jentes took over as Director in 1998 and served until 2002 with Colleen Harte as coordinator. With Ed's passing in 2002, Colleen took over as club director and now runs the club along with a Board of Directors. Seacoast has grown from a small program of about 36 girls, into one of the premier programs in New England. Over the past 23 years, Seacoast has given hundreds of girls the opportunity to improve their volleyball skills, and built a reputation as one of the premier volleyball clubs in New England.
